Quais são os livros mais discutidos na Internet?

Como uma pessoa que discute livros na internet para ganhar a vida, às vezes tenho pensamentos estranhos e aleatórios, como “quais são os livros mais discutidos na internet?” Ou então, “como posso descobrir quais livros são mais discutidos na Internet?” Bem, “por que não procuro no Google?” Depois disso, paro de pensar e começo a pesquisar no Google. No final, na tentativa de responder à minha pergunta, pesquisei 275 livros diferentes para comparar o número total de resultados, de acordo com a ferramenta.

Esse número, a propósito, é uma estimativa — um webmaster do Google o descreveu como “um valor aproximado”, mas pode ser ainda menos preciso do que isso. Até mesmo a estimativa pode variar muito, com base em uma série de fatores diferentes, como onde você está e o que mais você pesquisou (em toda a sua vida). Mas mesmo que os próprios números sejam aproximados, eles ainda podem ter significado relativo, especialmente quando acessados ​​do mesmo computador, usando o mesmo navegador, no mesmo dia: no mínimo, eles devem ser capazes de nos dizer, de uma forma geral forma, quais livros foram referenciados mais ou menos do que outros online.

É importante lembrar que isso não é exatamente o mesmo que a popularidade verdadeira — muitos best-sellers, especialmente os mais antigos, publicados quando a internet não era uma força motriz no marketing de livros, tinham uma classificação relativamente baixa aqui. As recentes adaptações de grande orçamento obviamente ajudam. O mesmo acontece com o drama. Assim como estar maduro para a investigação acadêmica. O fato de o livro de Rupi Kaur estar apenas no meio dessa lista me prova que o Google não faz um bom trabalho de busca no Instagram. Ainda assim, admito que fiquei surpresa com alguns deles – particularmente com a classificação relativamente baixa de alguns dos livros que para mim, no meu canto da internet, parecem ser discutidos até a morte.

Uma nota sobre estratégias de pesquisa: minha técnica básica era pesquisar o nome do autor e o título do livro juntos, ambos entre aspas. Ajustei um pouco se o título ou nome fosse muito comum; quando relevante, muitas vezes omitia o artigo em um título para acomodar referências casuais (muitas vezes eu tentei isso, não importava, mas às vezes sim). Dito isso, quem sabe o que pode estar escondido nesses milhões de resultados? Outra razão para pensar nesses números apenas em termos aproximados.

Uma nota sobre os livros: a única maneira de abordar isso era procurando livros que achei serem de alto nível, um por um. Isso significa que se eu não pensei no livro, ele não entrou na lista. Provavelmente esqueci uma série de best-sellers populares publicados nos últimos cem anos ou mais. Mas olha, eu tinha que parar em algum lugar. Ao contrário do Google, o tempo é finito.

  1. A primeira conclusão é que autores com três abreviações fazem mais sucesso do que os com duas. E estes, mais do que os com uma só. Se a pessoa não tem Shakespeare como sobrenome, o melhor é usar um pseudônimo com três abreviações para alcançar sucesso mundial. Aliás, Milton, sabias que meu nome completo desde 10 minutos atrás é I.K.M. Ferraz-Freiberger? Quando eu lançar “A morte do livreiro” e “Atrás do mezanino da Bamboletras”, vou direto para o topo da lista.
